winback-permittivity_conductivityWinback has chosen its frequency ranges following various studies including the C Gabriel research team highlights the permeability of cellular membranes by analysing several types of biological tissue for their study “The dielectric properties of Biological tissues” (4) In effect, the membranous polarisation can no longer take place through the passage of the Winback energy which facilitates intra and extra-cellular exchanges.

The theoretical aspects and principle conclusions of this subject were noted in several scientific studies: Arsonval 1890, Rudolf Hober 1910, Schwan and Schwan 1957, Foster 1980, Stuchly and Stuchly 1980, Pethig 1984, Pethig and Kell 1987 and Foster and Schwan 1989 – C Gabriel 1996. It was this community of researchers who were interested in cellular properties of biological tissues and their dielectric phenomena when subjected to energy at high frequencies. In the majority of these studies, a consensus is reached on the cellular reaction in function to the frequency and type of the biological tissue.

30 types of biological tissues were analyzed on frequencies oscillating between 11KHz and 10MHz. Each tissue composition was unique. Essentially, the thickness of membranes, their water density, and their size are examples of parameters that can be influenced by the various frequencies proposed by Winback.

The frequency acts on the depth of the action of the WINBACK energy.

1 MHz SUPERFICIAL

The higher the frequency, the more it is concentric and therefore superficial. At this frequency, Winback favours the MIX or WINBACK 4.0 method of application (the distance between the two electrodes is around 1cm) over the RET method. Cosmetic medicine uses the 1 MHz frequency because the mechanism of action is superficial (between 15 mm and 20 mm).

500 KHz HALF-DEEP

Offers a concentric energy action. Winback is bigger which allows it to reach deeper and more localised areas using the CET mode (around 0.5 cm to 3 cm) or deep tissues with are resistant to the RET mode.

300 KHz DEEP

Offers a dispersed and therefore deeper mechanism of action. For Winback, this frequency is useful for deep tissue, anti- inflammatory diathermic actions in CET mode. The energy is less concentrated on the first layers of the epidermis and so allows it to reach less vascularised areas (3 – 7 cm deep) such as fibroses or cramps, as well as semi-solid tissues.

WINBACK 125 YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC STUDIES AND RESEARCH

1890 : Discovery of the permeability of the cell plasma membrane to high frequency currents from 100 KHz to 10 MHz. Jacques Arsene d’Arsonval, French physician, medical physicist and inventor.

1939 :Work on diathermy with Capacitive and Resistive modes of application carried out on the first physiotherapy devices by William Beaumont, English physician and medical physicist. Frequencies at around 500 KHz.

1985 :High frequency current with multi-polar electrodes developed for use in cosmetic medicine. Frequency of 1 Mhz.

1995 : The term TECAR (Transfer Electrical, Capacitive And Resistive) is first used. New scientific studies are published in Italy. Frequencies of 500 KHz and 650 KHz. The diathermy effect is prioritised.

2013 : WINBACK launch.
