Treating Achilles Tendon Rupture with Winback Tecartherapy

Achilles tendon rupture is an injury to the Achilles tendon connecting the sural triceps muscle to the calcaneus and preventing, or making very painful, extension of the foot. It is fairly easy to recognise an Achilles heel rupture when it occurs: a tearing sound of tissue, severe pain below the calf and sometimes a ball formation due to the disruption of the sural triceps.

There are three main techniques for repairing an Achilles tendon: the orthopaedic technique (immobilisation by plastering), conventional surgery and so-called mini-invasive or percutaneous surgery. In all cases, a rehabilitation phase is necessary. It is slow, progressive and must be prudent in order to avoid the risk of recurrence as much as possible. The patient can generally walk properly again after 3 months. However, it will take at least 6 months to resume normal sporting activity.

The Winback tecartherapy accelerates the rehabilitation process and offers a quicker return to physical activity following an Achilles tendon rupture.
